Ritu's 10 years 6 months 5 days birthday party
We celebrated Ritu's bday party (a bit belated) but in Style!
She and her friends saw Soul Surfers - bethany hamilton! awesome
cut out her brownie in the shape of 10
Beauty is the Beast - they all practiced and enacted the play
they thoroughly enjoyed themselves!!!

Yellowstone and Grand Teton was awesome!
Yellowstone and Grand Teton was awesome!
To do and lessons learned
1) Always stay in the lodge as driving distances are large - Lodges are jackson lodge, canyon village lodge...
2) Fly to Jackson Hole if possible. We flew to Salt Lake and hence in total we drove about 1000 miles as we went from Salt Lake to Jackson to Grand teton to yellowstone to Salt Lake.
3) study map of area before travelling. Research on Google!
4) research area and habitat and educate kids before travelling to learn about the habitat and details there!
5) attend ranger programs to educate the kids
6) we saw old faithful, paint pot, prismatic lake, upper falls, lower falls, hiked to traggert lake, saw jenny lake. Basically do the whole 96 miles loop as there is tons to see and love!
7) Saw tons of wild Life like bison, pronghorn (70 mph - fastest in North America), marmot (like a squirrel)
8) Buzz words: habitats - alphine, forest, aquatic and plains ; sulphuric acid, lava, molten, fissures, eruptions, conifers
9) River Rafting was lots of fun for Ritu and Me - with lewis and clark expeditions - floatodrafts.com
10) Rohan had fun horse back riding
11) wish we had another day at Yellowstone and got to stay in one of the Lodges!
More details:
Flew to Salt Lake on Wednesday night,
Drove on thursday, reached Teton at 4 pm. Saw stuff till 9 pm and then stayed at Virgian Lodge in jackson
Drove to yellowstone on Friday, reached at 12:00 pm. Saw the whole day and reached Jackson back at 12:30 am
Did rafting on Saturday morning
went to Grand Teton again to get the junior ranger badges after doing the Junior ranger program and drove around more till 6 pm.
Drove back to Hyatt in Salt Lake city and reached at 1 am.
Flew back at 10 am (2 - 7 am sleep) to San diego and arrived at 3 pm!
things to take in addition to clothes
always have a thermos to carry tea with tea bags and half and half mini moos
two pairs of shoes/slippers is good if doing water activities
snacks for kids and adults
sun glasses
bug spray
hats
sun screen
games for kids as long drives
list of places to eat around there - food in the cafeteria is cheap but awesome!!
